3 Things to Ask Your Adult Siblings

In This Episode…

Three things to ask your adult siblings:

  • What's the long-term plan for mom and dad? (And YOU?) (3:48)
  • What can I do to help us grow closer? (9:48)
  • What do you wish I knew about you now? (15:08)

Key Points

A power of attorney stops being in effect when the name of the person passes away. The truth is, we all need a will, especially if we own anything—even if it’s just clothes, or have children. When you don’t have a will or trust, then everything that belongs to you after you pass away will have to go through probate before your loved ones can access it. I’m going through this with my husband now and we are in early 40s. So don’t think that you can put off here will until you get old.

Disclaimer: I'm not an attorney: consult an estate attorney or your local probate court for further details on these matters.

Do you have a grudge against your sibling. Maybe s/he didn’t know, or, they didn’t know how deeply had affected you, and it is most likely not their fault that they were favored. People can’t read minds. The way you think and see things is not the way other people do, even if you grew up with them for 18 years.
